| GLOBAL LEADERS IN BUSINESS AND SCIENCE HEADLINE SUCCESSFUL ISB SYMPOSIUM ISB held its 7th Annual International Systems Biology Symposium in April, a sold out event that focused on Systems Biology & Engineering. The symposium featured keynote speakers Bill Gates, chairman of Microsoft Corporation, and Nathan Myhrvold, PhD, president of Intellectual Ventures. Presenters from Emory, Vanderbilt, and Tufts universities, MIT, University of California, Caltech and others, addressed the development of new technologies enabling advances in biological imaging, single-cell and single-molecule experimentation and synthetic biology. Since its founding in 2000, researchers at ISB have approached biology as an information science, using or developing ever more advanced technologies to unravel complex biological networks, with the goal of making P4 Medicine (personalized, predictive, preventative and participatory) a reality. Presentations are available online at http://www.systemsbiolgy.org. |
